Solar energy generation grows 89% in Brazil in December 2023

Data from CCEE show that the photovoltaic source produced 3,033 MWmed in the period, compared to 1,602 MWmed in the same period in 2022

Photovoltaic solar energy generation in the National Interconnected System (SIN) grew 89.3% in December, to 3,033 average megawatts (MWmed), compared to 1,602 MWmed in the same period of 2022, shows the bulletin from the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE ).

According to the document, the generation of hydro, wind and thermal plants also increased in the period, with advances of 2.6%, 35.8% and 23.5%, respectively. In total, energy generation in the National Interconnected System (SIN) recorded an average of 74,569 MW, an increase of 8% compared to the same previous month.

According to CCEE, electricity consumption in the SIN registered an increase of 10%, when compared to the same period of the previous year. When carrying out analyzes by energy contracting market, while the Regulated Contracting Market (ACR) showed an increase of 12.5%, the Free Contracting Market (ACL) grew 5.7%.
