In 2023, eight parks were completed: seven wind farms, in Junco do Seridó and Santa Luzia, and one solar farm, in Sumé.
The state of Paraíba has stood out in Brazil in the production of renewable energy. In recent years, investments in the clean energy sector have resulted in positive balances. Construction and installation of new parks, in addition to expanding installed capacity to meet the sector’s growth, contributed to the expansion and development of renewable energy in Paraíba in the country. In 2023, eight parks were completed, seven for wind energy, in the municipalities of Junco do Seridó and Santa Luzia, and another for photovoltaic solar energy, located in Sumé. Currently, there are 61 parks in operation in the state using the solar photovoltaic and wind energy model, and Paraíba has 2.00 GW of installed capacity for the generation of electrical energy, 74.12% of which in renewable energy and 25.88% non-renewable.
Paraíba currently occupies the 18th position in the distributed generation ranking and has room for growth. The photovoltaic solar sector has already brought 337.5 megawatts in distributed solar generation systems to the state. The state is also the seventh largest in terms of the number of plants in operation, with 461 megawatts. It is currently capable of generating almost 800 megawatts, having already received R$4 billion in investments from the solar energy sector, with 24 thousand jobs brought to the region. The state government’s expectation is that the sector will increase by 50% everything that has already been invested in the last ten years.
